Young at heart- the story of Kumamiki and Party Baby

Filed under: Artists, Fairy Kei, General News, review — Meg @ 1:04 am

Hi Guys,

Oh my god. I’ve just finished watching the most beautiful video by Tokyo Fashion and 1K Films about Party Baby. First of all, please watch it and subscribe to Tokyo Fashion’s channel. Seriously, go watch it!

It’s very rare that the quieter side of Harajuku is documented on film. Most videos electrify the kawaii element of the fashion with electro-pop music, bright colours and sparkles. But this time, Tokyo Fashion and 1K Films have carefully captured the nostalgic and reflective thoughts of a Harajuku designer. As Tokyo Fashion explains:

“Kuma is exactly what many people imagine that Harajuku should be – she has rainbow colored hair, loves to wear pastel clothing, and piles on lots of quirky accessories and hair bows big and small. That’s the part of Kuma that you’ve seen in photos. We would like to go beyond that and share the rest of Kuma’s story with you – the story of a real human being who spent years studying fashion in college, who has a part time job at a shop in Harajuku to pay the bills, who spends most of her free time sewing, and who dreams of her tiny DIY fashion brand Party Baby someday being loved and respected by the next generation of Harajuku kids.”- Tokyo Fashion News

I loved watching how much care Kuma put into carefully crafting her garments. It makes the items we have here with us at Electric Alice HQ all the more precious. Not only are they adorable, but each accessory contains the warmth and dreams of Kuma in Harajuku. We still have some left here. We really hope we can help Kuma spread her message about staying young at heart by providing the world with access to her brand.

And there is something you can do to help Kuma! Share Tokyo Fashion’s video on your blogs, Facebooks, Twitter…everywhere! Show all your friends and fans what Harajuku culture is all about!
