Hi Guys!
Meg here! So on Wednesday 16th, I went to see Nicki Minaj’s concert in Sydney. It was her first show ever in Australia AND and the first show of her Roman Reloaded Tour! I was so blown away by her costuming that I had to share it with you guys!
My first impressions of seeing Nicki Minaj in the flesh is that she makes the perfect doll! Just like Barbie! While everyone was screaming and dancing, I spent the hour set just staring at her mesmerized. Here is the best video online right now, in terms of you being able to hear her voice over the singing crowd!
Nicki had four costume changes, and my two favourites included her Barbie-pink dress, and her fairy-kei-meets-rainbow-brite ensemble. Unfortunately I was unable to take pictures, and a lot of the ones that have come online show just her first costume. But here are some snaps by Mike Wass that I found on Idolator (check out their great review!)
Here’s her Barbie outfit! The set was also fantastic, as the background transformed into a Barbie dream house!
I absolutely loved the fall and graduated colouring on the skirt! And the PVC corset was a nice edgy touch.
I think her killer costume was the fairy-kei-meets-rainbow-brite ensemble, but unfortunately there is just one photo on the internet of it…and the quality wasn’t so great. But the outfit was a-MA-zing, and was perfect for her performance of “Super Bass” at the end. Here’s a video I found of her dancing around in the outfit!
If you’re wondering, yes the sound was that loud. The walls were shaking for the whole set! Anyway, just LOOK at that outfit! Amazing! Her lollypop necklace reminds me of something from 6% Doki Doki and her tights look like Celeste Stein! I think this style really works well for Nicki! Here is another fairy-kei inspired coordinate she wore to a signing session in the UK.
Not only does she have a Barbie tutu here, I am pretty sure those are Troll Doll tights! (Which we will hopefully restock soon!)
Also I have to say that everyone went nuts for Nicki. They were screaming the roof off! When the Hordern Pavillion started to let people through in small groups, the crowd surged forward twice, pushing me about 10 metres forward and throwing me up against a barricade which came crashing down with me! I have never seen anything like it!
I just want to leave you guys with my favourite song performed on the night, “Starships.” It was a lot of fun! Click through this video to see some more great clips from this user!
But of course, the real thing was spectacular and is a must see if you can. If Nicki is coming to your town, its definitely worth going to see her 1 hour set. I loved it! There are also lots of other reviews online if you’re interested. All the pictures and videos included in this blog have click throughs to their sources so check them out!
