‘Who’s Your KAWAII inspiration?’ Electric Alice Facebook Contest!

Hey everyone! ♡ Electric Alice has some exciting news!

1) We will be having a major update and sale before Christmas!
2) To celebrate, we are having a facebook photo contest!

There are two lucky pack prizes up for grabs worth $150 and $75!

The major prize goes to the entry with the most votes, and the runner up will be chosen by the EA team (we will pick the most creative entry)! ♡ Both packs will contain coordinating items, and we might just post up some sneaky clues as to what they contain throughout the contest. ;D

The contest theme is:

“kawaii style inspirations!”

How to enter:

1) Come up with a totally rad coordinate inspired by your kawaii style icon! Check out Pie’s collage above for ideas!

2) Send us a snap of yourself in the coordinate and tell us in 50 words or less who your kawaii style inspiration is and why! Our email is enquiry@electricalice.com!

3) On Tuesday 13th of December EST, we will post all the photos we have received so far on our facebook! Of course, you can send in entries after this date and we’ll pop them up for you too!

4) People can vote for your entry by liking Electric Alice’s facebook and your happy snap! ♡ We will post the rules for voting (eg. no dummy accounts) at the time of uploading the snaps, but it’s pretty straight forward – play nice!

5) Facebook voting closes on Friday 30th December EST! We will send the winner their snazzy prize in the mail! ♡

Can’t wait to see all your entries guys! ♡ We will post soon about the update and sale :3

We love you, Ai Yazawa!

Who else absolutely can’t wait to get their hands on the new Paradise Kiss Live Action film? I for one have been checking almost every day for an English subbed version! If you’re unfamiliar with Paradise Kiss, here’s a trailer to get you acquainted – but be warned, once you pop, you can’t stop with this series!

Paradise Kiss is the work of infamous manga artist and writer Ai Yazawa who is also responsible for titles such as Nana, Gokinjo Monogatari (Neighbourhood Story) and Tenshi Naka Ja Nai (I am not an Angel). Yazawa frequently sneaks Vivienne Westwood designs into her works and if any manga artist has Japanese street fashion down, it’s her! She even has her own fictional fashion label ‘Happy Berry’ and I know I’m not the only one who wishes it was real!

The fashion in Yazawa’s works ranges from punk to EGL to retro, so it’s not hard to look like you just stepped out of a chapter of Paradise Kiss! Personally, my favourite Ai Yazawa character is Sakurada Miwako, so here’s my very own Miwako inspired coordinate using a Metamorphose Biker jacket, currently available in store!

To get the look, match a Metamorphose biker jacket, 6%Dokidoki Studded Beret, black, red and white accessories, cute platforms, Celeste Stein crew socks and big hair! Now you’re looking as cute as Miwako, it’s time to hit the town on your motor scooter!

So tell us, who’s your favourite Ai Yazawa character and why? Have you ever tried to dress just like them? We’d love to see pictures!

Hey Vanessa, we <3 your style!

Filed under: Lolita, Otome/Casual Style, Outfit Snap, Rockabilly — Meg @ 12:42 pm

Hey Guys,

I have someone lovely to introduce to you all! It’s Vanessa from Perth, and boy oh boy is she super cute. *^*

Vanessa is a graphic designer, and major fashionista!  She loves Hello Kitty, and 6% Dokidoki!

She recently snapped up some EA goodies from our sale and took some awesome pics for us. Take a look!

Vanessa is wearing Retro Rhonda in red, and is decked out in EA accessories! It’s so cute, we love it! It’s like rockabilly meets Harajuku!! And we are totally jealous of that pony you have Vanessa!

Here are some more pics of her showing off her bling, including a Chocomint creme parfait necklace, 6% Dokidoki knuckleduster, 6% Dokidoki heart ring, and Chocomint twinkle star ring.

We still have some gorgeous Retro Rhonda dresses in store on sale guys! Please do check them out when we go back online (which is soon, we promise!)

Thanks for the pics Vanessa! You look beautiful and we love them <3

We love snaps of our customers for the blog! If you have any photos of yourself decked up Electric Alice gear, please send them through to enquiry@electricalice.com!

And now for something a little bit sassy!

Filed under: Otome/Casual Style, Outfit Ideas, Rockabilly — Imogen @ 7:11 pm

Next up is the outrageously beautiful and super bubbly Steph! (If you’re thinking she looks a teensy bit familiar, yep, she’s also known as Hex and hosts ABC’s Good Game!) Steph proves that you can make your super cute Electric Alice stuff look a little bit sexy too – just throw on a pair of sky-high peeptoes and a slick of bright red lippy and you’ve got yourself a bit of retro glam.

Click on the items above to shop now! Then grab a novelty sailor hat (we found ours in a dollar store) and tuck in any old red tee, then you’ve got Steph’s adorable look down pat.

Have you guys ever done a themed look? We’d love to see!

We also recommend these great accessories. The gingham Metamorphose bows are on sale too!

For the love of Rockabilly

Filed under: Gothic, Rockabilly — Lisa @ 7:54 pm

The fashion and music of the 50s ain’t dead, it’s undead! Sydney’s Black Cherry Club recently celebrated it’s 4th birthday with a “Day of the Dead” theme. We love Rockabilly culture. All the polka dots, big hair, kooky prints and big skirts are just too much fun to resist! (And remember when we found these Rockabillies in Japan?) So naturally, we booked out tickets and danced up a storm, among a fantastic mix of poodle skirts, burlesque acts, pompadour quiffs and red lipstick – mixed in with gothic colours, skull accessories and Day of the Dead makeup.

Rockabilly is actually quite an easy look to pull off for the seasoned Lolita, especially if you’re more into the gothic side of things. You’ve already got the full-skirted dresses, the petticoats and the big hair extensions, and there’s a good chance you’ve got a Lolita dress that’s designed in the classic 50s halterneck shape. Then it’s simply a matter of popping on a pair of peep-toe heels, a leopard-print cardi, a slick of eyeliner and a swipe of red lipstick! And even if you don’t have a halterneck dress, many Lolita “jumperskirt” dresses have straps held on with buttons, so you can easily unbutton them completely and pin them around your neck.

But if you’re in a pinch for the perfect outfit that’s ready to go right now, we’ve got you sorted! Take a look:
